Google Business Profile Claimed?
Your Google Business Profile (previously known as Google My Business or GMB) is your digital storefront.
It’s often the first impression customers get when searching for your business online.
But here’s the problem. Many local businesses don’t even realize their profile is unclaimed.
And an unclaimed profile = lost visibility, lost trust, and lost leads.
So, how do you check if your Google Business Profile is claimed?
Let’s break it down 👇
Step 1: Search for Your Business on Google
- Go to Google.com website.
- Type your business name + location (example: “SCI Digital”).
- Look at the right-hand panel (the Business Profile).
👉 If you see your business listed with address, phone number, and map location — good.
You have a profile.
Step 2: Look for the “Own this business?” Link
- On the Business Profile, scroll down.
- If the profile is unclaimed, you’ll see: “Own this business?”
- This means no one has verified it yet.
👉 If you don’t see this option, it’s already claimed.
Step 3: Try Accessing It via Google Business Manager
- Go to Google Business Profile Manager
- Sign in with your Google account
- Search for your business
- If you can manage it → it’s already claimed.
- If not, you’ll see an option to Request Access.
Step 4: If Claimed but Not by You
Sometimes, a business is claimed by:
- A former employee
- An old agency
- Or even by mistake
👉 In this case, click “Request Access” and follow Google’s process. The current manager has 3–7 days to respond.
Why Claiming Matters
- Control your business info (address, hours, phone, etc.)
- Respond to reviews (build trust)
- Post updates, offers, and events
- Access insights (calls, clicks, directions)
- Rank higher in local SEO
